Prof. R. Vasudeva is the Dean (Forestry) and Professor of Forest Biology at the College of Forestry, Sirsi, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. An eminent forestry scientist and academic administrator, he has dedicated his career to advancing forest ecology, biodiversity conservation, genetics, and sustainable natural resource management.
Throughout his distinguished career, Prof. Vasudeva has held several leadership roles, including serving on the Board of Management of the University, heading the Department of Forest Biology and Tree Improvement, and contributing to national committees on forestry, biodiversity, and environmental conservation. He has guided more than 50 postgraduate and doctoral scholars, authored books and book chapters, published over 140 research papers, and received more than 2,000 research citations. His pioneering work includes developing the first draft genome sequence of teak, conserving endangered tree species through forest gene banks, and leading numerous research projects focused on forest conservation and sustainable livelihoods.
Recipient of several prestigious honours, including the INSA Teacher Award and the ICFRE National Award for Excellence in Forestry Institute, Prof. Vasudeva is widely recognised for his outstanding contributions to forestry research, education, innovation, and environmental sustainability.
