Dr. C. V. Chalapati Rao is one of India's most respected environmental engineering professionals, bringing over 45 years of experience in environmental planning, pollution control, environmental impact assessment, and sustainable development. During his long and distinguished career at the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), he led several pioneering research and consultancy projects addressing air quality, water resources, industrial pollution, environmental auditing, and carrying-capacity-based development planning.

An accomplished researcher and policy expert, Dr. Rao has authored numerous scientific publications and received prestigious national awards for his contributions to environmental engineering.
